Terms of Service
These terms govern access to Periapsis, including its orbital visualizer, account features, saved satellites, and uploaded assets.
1. Agreement and operator
By using Periapsis, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Periapsis is an independently operated project based in Switzerland. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Contact: info@periapsis.space.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16, or otherwise have the legal capacity and any required guardian permission, to create an account. Provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and notify us promptly of unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
You may use a local password or an enabled third-party sign-in provider. Your relationship with that provider is governed separately by its terms. Periapsis may suspend an account when reasonably necessary to stop abuse, a security threat, unlawful activity, or a material breach of these Terms.
3. Scientific-use boundary
Periapsis is an educational and visualization tool—not an operational navigation, collision-avoidance, flight-safety, launch-control, or mission-critical system. TLEs, reconstructed trajectories, interpolated ephemerides, body orientations, maps, procedural surfaces, representative meshes, and live or historical launch data can be incomplete, delayed, approximate, or wrong.
Do not rely on Periapsis for decisions involving safety, property, regulatory compliance, spacecraft operations, or precise observation. Confirm consequential data with the relevant authoritative provider.
4. Your satellites and uploads
You retain your rights in satellite definitions, meshes, textures, names, and other content you submit. You grant Periapsis a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, convert, compress, and display that content solely as needed to provide, secure, and maintain the service for you.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for anything you upload. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, malicious, privacy-invasive, export-controlled, or technically harmful content. Periapsis may reject or remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- attack, probe, bypass, overload, or interfere with the service or its security controls;
- access another person's account or private content without authorization;
- upload malware or use automated traffic in a way that degrades service for others;
- misrepresent generated visualizations as certified operational or authoritative data; or
- use Periapsis in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
6. Periapsis content and data sources
The Periapsis software, branding, interface, and original visual work remain protected by their applicable rights. Scientific data, maps, meshes, textures, trademarks, and other third-party materials remain subject to their respective licences and attribution requirements. Source and attribution links are available from the application's information page.
These Terms do not grant you ownership of third-party content or permission to remove attribution, circumvent technical restrictions, or redistribute a dataset beyond its source licence.
7. Availability and changes
Features may be added, changed, rate-limited, interrupted, or retired. We aim to operate the service reliably but do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, or compatibility with every browser or device. Keep independent copies of orbital elements and uploaded assets that you cannot afford to lose.
8. Account termination
You may stop using Periapsis at any time and request account deletion using the account deletion page. We may terminate or suspend access for a serious or repeated breach, a credible security risk, legal necessity, or discontinuation of the service. Provisions that logically survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations—remain in effect.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Periapsis is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Periapsis operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss, or for lost data, profit, opportunity, or goodwill arising from use of or inability to use the service. Liability is not excluded for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, or any other matter that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts at the operator's Swiss domicile have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer or other applicable law gives you a different forum or protection.
12. Changes and contact
Material changes will be published here with a revised effective date. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires another form of notice or consent. Questions can be sent to info@periapsis.space.
